While both Maryland and the District of Columbia require their Medicaid programs and private insurers to pay for certain telehealth/telemedicine services, they differ in their definitions of covered services and service delivery methods.

The technology for telehealth has been evolving from hardware and software systems that require large capital investments to more cost-effective web-based systems that use standard laptops and tablets. Is specific insurance required for telehealth consults?
Providers can purchase an add-on Cyber Liability Policy. This particular coverage is very inexpensive and provides lots of coverage. Most liability carriers will provide coverage for the mode of care via telehealth as long as both the patient and the provider are in the same during the encounter.
